Delight your senses as we delve into the enticing aromas that white wines boast. From floral bouquets to hints of tropical fruits, join us in savoring the symphony of scents that dance upon every sip.

Today we would like to introduce a Chardonnay grape variety!

Chardonnay, Something for Everyone.

From Vineyard to Glass: The Art of White Wine Making

The Queen of the Grape varietals, Chardonnay is the most popular of all white grape varieties, albeit not the most widely planted variety in the world. There are two main different styles of Chardonnay wine. If you like the idea of creamy, rich white wine in your glass, you’ll love the classic style of oak-aged Chardonnay wine.

On the other hand, if you prefer your wines to be lean, minerally, and dry, then your perfect Chardonnay is the un-oaked kind.

How can a single grape offer such a variety of flavours? Well, winemaking and the climate where the grapes grow have everything to do with the answer.

From minerally, unoaked Chablis to the grand and complex, nutty dry whites of Meursault, Chassagne, and Puligny-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune and the riper wines of Pouilly-Fuissé further south. Along with Pinot Noir, it is also the major grape variety in Champagne.

New World Because of its versatility, it’s spread like a bush fire throughout Europe and the New World, with brilliant, opulently, and exotically flavoured whites in California, Australia, and New Zealand. As winemakers lavish increasing attention on Chardonnay, it does increasingly well in Chile and South Africa.

Oak in Chardonnay is a non-aromatic variety, it has an affinity with oak, whether new or used, French or American, and while barrel-fermented Chardonnays tend to be the richest, most complex, and long-lived dry whites, the trend to unoaked Chardonnay is catching on as a backlash to the hefty, over wooded styles. Despite talk of Chardonnay fatigue, its wonderful flavours, richness, and versatility ensure that it is here to stay.

The Perfect Pairing: Culinary Adventures with Chardonnay!

Check out some of our favorite Chardonnay food pairings!

Cheese! Simple as it is but the best for wine pairing. Buttery Brie or any creamy cheese will be just perfect. Shellfish and seafood are another way to pair chardonnay. The wine complements their richness and sweetness. And last but not least light meat and flavored Italian pasta will be a great pairing for a cozy family diner.
